ABOUT THE ARTIST
Wayne McKenzie is an Algonquin-Cree from the Timiskaming First Nations community, located in the Northwest of Québec, who lives according to the Algonquin traditions. He studied the traditions and teachings of Aboriginal peoples, what he calls the tenants of the Medicine Wheel and the power of the Four Directions, the songs, the big drum, the hand drum, and traditional dances for men.
Wayne gives workshops to both Native American and non-Native American organizations, as well as in schools. Over the course of his extensive travels in Quebec and elsewhere, he has had the opportunity to present the full spectrum of Native American culture through the mediums of dance, song and painting.
